Squid-2H-Energy – a modern GSM street lighting control system

ABOUT WHAT?

Any modern city consumes a significant amount of energy. At the same time, the “lion's” share of total energy costs falls on street lighting, which, in addition to functional lighting of streets and highways, also includes lighting of adjacent territories. Rising energy prices force cities to look for innovative solutions to make street lighting more energy efficient.

FOR WHOM AND HOW WILL IT WORK?

The optimal solution to the problem is the use of a remote automated system for controlling street lighting. One of such systems is offered by Mikrol LLC, Ivano-Frankivsk. The system is a GSM-dispatching of street lighting facilities (Fig. 1), built according to the “star” network topology (1 server — many clients). Management is carried out from a single dispatching point.

Data exchange between the server and clients in the Squid-2H-Energy system is carried out using the GPRS packet data transmission technology via the Internet.
This type of transmission is very convenient, since there is no need to use modems - servers, while it allows you to connect a large number of routers to the computer and perform data exchange online with all of them at the same time. The volume of data that is transmitted to the central dispatching point around the clock is included in any selected tariff plan without additional charges. The clients are Squid-2H-Energy GSM-routers, which are mounted on objects. The system is easily scalable. At any time, additional objects can be connected to the existing system, without changing software products, you only need to make additional settings.
